After three defeats to begin her career, Lady Scarlet earned her first career victory at Churchill Downs on Nov. 21, 2021, when she won a $150,000 maiden claiming race by 1 3/4 lengths. She set the early pace and repelled a challenge at the top of the stretch to hold on for the victory. She was claimed out of that race by Mike Maker.

Lady Scarlet made her stakes debut in the Cicada Stakes at Aqueduct on March 19, 2022. In a departure from most of her previous races, she rated off the early pace and made her move as they neared the stretch. The maneuver paid off, as she won by 4 3/4 lengths in an impressive performance.
After setting the pace and fading to fourth in the Grade 3 Beaumont Stakes Presented by Keeneland Select, Lady Scarlet stalked the pace from the inside in the Grade 3 Miss Preakness Stakes May 20 at Pimlico, seized command with a three-wide bid entering the stretch, and pulled away from favored Happy Soul en route to a convincing victory.
