Funtastic Again broke his maiden in a Saratoga 2-year-old race in his second career start on Aug. 27, 2022. After a ninth-place finish in the Grade 1 Claiborne Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland on Oct. 9, Funtastic Again was sent to Turfway Park to compete on the synthetic Tapeta racing surface. Funtastic Again rattled off back-to-back wins at Turfway on Dec. 2022 and Jan. 2023 in the Leonatus Stakes. The latter victory earned Funtastic Again a shot in the Grade 3 $700,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway on March 25, and in that race Funtastic Again earned a third-place finish.
