El Cordobes made his North American debut in the Grade 1 $750,000 Sword Dancer Stakes going 1 1/2 miles at Saratoga on Aug. 9, 2025. Sent off as the 4-1 third choice on the tote board in a field of nine in the Sword Dancer, El Cordobes had a ground-saving trip under jockey Flavien Prat and then was able to overcome some traffic to launch a bid at the catching the leaders in the stretch. El Cordobes wore down stablemate Nations Pride in the late stages and was able to fend off a late bid by Rebel Red to win the race by a margin of a half a length in a time of 2:25.04 over firm turf.
