Double Crown was the winner of the 2022 Grade 2 $300,000 Kelso Handicap at one mile Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 29. The victory was the sixth in the career of Double Crown and was his first graded stakes win. Double Crown sat off a contested pace in the Kelso and followed the closing move of 6-5 favorite Baby Yoda, who opened up a comfortable lead at the top of the stretch until Double Crown chipped away at the advantage, eventually passing the leader and drawing off to a 1 ¾-length win as the 42-1 longest shot on the tote board. Double Crown paid $86.50 to win.
