Crazy Mason won his second career start sprinting 5 ½ furlongs on dirt at Saratoga during the summer 2023 meet. He ran three more times as a juvenile without a victory but showed promise in his 3-year-old debut when taking a one mile and 40-yard allowance optional claiming race on dirt at Tampa Bay Downs in January. That prompted his connections to enter him in Tampa Bay Downs’ two Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve preps, but the Coal Front colt finished off the board in both of them.

After two more winless starts in 2024, Crazy Mason came back strong at Aqueduct in early 2025, winning two sprint allowance races with late rallies. He then tried the same strategy in the seven-furlong, Grade 2 Carter Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets April 5 at Aqueduct, and charged from last in a field of seven to score his first stakes victory by a neck under Manny Franco.
Crazy Mason is out of the Grade 3-placed winning Maria’s Mon mare Izshelegal.
