After posting dominant victories in his first two starts, Captain Scotty finished fourth in his stakes debut in the Grade 1 Triple Bend Stakes in March 2018. The Quality Road gelding did not win again in 2018 but finished third once and second twice.
Captain Scotty ran second again in each of his first two starts of 2019 before winning an allowance-optional claiming race at Oaklawn Park by 6 ¾ lengths on March 24.
