Candied

Candied, a Candy Ride filly owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Todd Pletcher, won her career debut on Aug. 20, 2023, taking a six-furlong maiden race at Saratoga by a rallying three-quarters of a length.

She moved up to Grade 1 company in her next start, the 1 1/16-mile Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland on Oct. 5. Candied moved up from a stalking position and then made a sustained four-wide rally coming out of the far turn that brought her to the front. Under strong urging from jockey Luis Saez, the filly raced on her wrong lead but kept challenger V V’s Dream at bay to secure the victory by a length. She earned an automatic berth in the NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies with the win via the “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series.

Candied ran well at the Breeders’ Cup, finishing third in the NetJets Juvenile Fillies in the final start of her 2-year-old season.

She her much-anticipated 2024 debut in Central Bank Ashland Stakes April 5, 2024, at Keeneland. Candied rallied from off the pace to finish fourth as the favorite in a solid effort in her first race in five months. 

Candied was bred in Kentucky and is out of the stakes-winning Roaring Fever mare Toni Tools.
