Society Man

Society Man was unplaced in his career debut but showed improvement when stretching out to 1 1/8 miles for his second start, finishing third Dec. 8, 2023, at Aqueduct in his final race as a 2-year-old.

Trainer Danny Gargan was encouraged enough by the Good Magic gelding’s second start that he tested him next in the Grade 3 Withers Stakes Feb. 3, 2024, at Aqueduct in his 3-year-old bow. Society Man was not quite up to the task and finished eighth, beaten by 15 ¼ lengths on a muddy track. Back in maiden company for his fourth race, Society Man was a dominant three-length winner March 9 at Aqueduct in a one-mile race on a muddy track.

Society Man returned to stakes competition for his next race and was ready for a breakout effort as he finished second in a 12-horse field in the $750,000 Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by Resorts World Casino to earn 50 points toward qualifying for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

Stakes-placed winner You Cheated, by Colonel John, is the dam (mother) of Society Man.
