A former assistant trainer to aome of the best in the business, Rick Mettee took over as Team Valor's head trainer in May of 2013. Mettee helped train Music Note, Pyro and others during his time as an assistant trainer for Godolphin Racing's trainer Saeed bin Suroor and worked for trainer John Gosden as an assistant trainer for three years as well.
Mettee went out on his own in 1990 and is directly responsible for Annoconnor, Smooth Runner, and other. In 2013, Mettee trained Team Valor's Brujo de Olleros to a third place finish in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
