Vino Rosso improved his rating by five points to a 126 in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings thanks to a 4 ¼-length runaway victory in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 2 at Santa Anita Park.

The 4-year-old by Curlin was unable to make up enough ground, however, to catch the top three of Enable, Crystal Ocean, and Waldgeist at 128.

The leading trio — familiar rivals based in Europe — is led by 2019 Cartier Horse of the Year Enable, who is scheduled to remain in training for a 6-year-old campaign. A two-time Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner, Enable is joined by Waldgeist, who spoiled her bid for a three-peat in that race Oct. 6 at Longchamp, along with Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner Crystal Ocean, who finished second by a neck to Enable in July.

Reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year Beauty Generation checked in fourth with a rating of 127, followed by German Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath and Vino Rosso in a tie for fifth at 126.

Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes winner City of Light is part of a group of four, which also includes Australian superstar Winx, tied for seventh with a rating of 125.
