The partnership of Gary Hartunian’s Rockingham Ranch and David Bernson scored a Breeders’ Cup win with their first-ever horse in the World Championships when Roy H won the 2017 TwinSpires Sprint at Del Mar.
That marked the second trip to the winner’s circle at the Breeders’ Cup for Rockingham Ranch, as Stormy Liberal won the Turf Sprint earlier on the card. Both horses were trained by Peter Miller.
Hartunian, who works in commercial real estate, entered the sport in the early 2010s after enjoying trips to Del Mar. He also owns other horses in several partnerships.
