DESCRIPTION:Held at Monmouth Park, the Salvator Mile has been run since 1948 at one mile (8 furlongs) on dirt and is named for Hall of Fame horse Salvator. Five owners have won the race two times while trainer Frank Whiteley Jr. won three times from 1966 to 1974 and jockey Bill Hartack won the race a leading four times from 1954 to 1970. Peanut Butter Onit and Sea of Tranquility won the race twice while Gottcha Gold ran the fastest edition of the race, stopping the clock in 1:34.25 in 2007.
