Amsterdam's love of racing was sparked by Funny Cide's Triple Crown bid in 2003. The native New Yorker is a 28-year-old real estate professional who is an avid fan of two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan and 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner California Chrome.

Amsterdam calls Belmont Park his home track, and he is a big fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and New York Knicks.
