The horse racing world like all other areas of society continues to make changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and public health crisis. Racetracks across America have either postponed live racing or prohibited anyone other than essential employees from entering. Charities are ramping up services to help track workers during these hard times, including the Race Track Chaplaincy, New York Division.

Among the live racing still being conducted, the highlight event is the $1 million, Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby on Saturday, March 21 at Fair Grounds. The Louisiana Derby is a qualifying points race for the 146thKentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, which has been rescheduled for Sept. 5 at Churchill Downs, and it offers Derby points to the top four finishers on a 100-40-20-10 scale.

The Louisiana Derby has a scheduled post time of 5:49 p.m. ET Saturday and will be televised live on TVG's program “Trackside Live” from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. Live racing coverage will continue on TVG on Sunday, March 22. TVG will, as usual, present their comprehensive coast-to-coast racing coverage all weekend. Post time varies for different tracks.

Live racing will also be featured during an extended afternoon bloc Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the America’s Day at the Races show presented by America’s Best Racing. The show, produced by NYRA, will air from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. on FS2 and from 3 p.m.-6:30 p.m. ET on FS1 Friday and 1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. ET on FS1 Saturday and Sunday, hosted by Greg Wolf. Specific tracks covered are in the below listing.

A must-listen highlight of this week’s radio schedule is “The Winner’s Circle,” America’s Best Racing’s podcast presented by NYRA Bets. The show, hosted by Bram Weinstein and featuring analysis from Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens, airs at 10 a.m. ET on Saturdays through Nov. 7 on SB Nation RadioSubscribe to "The Winner's Circle" on Apple Podcasts to listen to archived episodes.

This Saturday’s show features guest Mike Ziegler, executive director of racing for Churchill Downs, who will discuss the decision to postpone the Kentucky Derby to September and other measures Churchill Downs is taking to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show also features analysis and commentary from Gary Stevens and America’s Best Racing’s Dan Tordjman.

Here’s a rundown of television and radio coverage leading up to the Louisiana Derby and other weekend racing.
