Santa Anita Park, Race 5, Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes, 4:30 p.m. ET
#10 Desert Stone (10-1 odds on morning line): He finished third last year in this event while not having the best of trips that day. He has always shown a good late kick and there is plenty of speed in this field to set up his closing style. I liked the way he came back in sharp form off the long layoff to win the Grade 2 San Gabriel Stakes last time out when defeating a solid field. The outside post should allow him to settle in a good position toward the back without being pressured from both sides.
Recap of previous wager: Conquest Hardcandy was close to the pace early on but had nothing left and tired late.
Strategy on $100 Budget:
50-cent trifecta: 10 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ($28)
