Stay Lucky, the free-to-play mobile app with a $1 million grand prize from America’s Best Racing (ABR), a fan-development initiative of The Jockey Club, is back for its fourth season. With the Breeders’ Cup World Championships returning as the title sponsor, season four of the app features enhanced playability, improved performance, and several new prizes.
Stay Lucky’s relaunch coincides with the Risen Star Stakes, a prep race on the road to the Kentucky Derby. Contest races on the app will include graded stakes beginning this weekend and continue every week through Breeders’ Cup weekend on November 6-7.
Stay Lucky rewards players for correctly selecting winning horses in consecutive races. Prizes are earned when players build streaks of five, seven, nine, 14, 17, and 20 races. Over the course of the first three seasons of Stay Lucky, 443 prizes were won by fans chasing the grand prize of $1 million, which is earned if a player picks the winners of 20 consecutive races. In 2019, more than 2,500 unique individuals used the Stay Lucky app.
“Stay Lucky has proven to be a fun, no-risk, fan-engagement tool allowing fans to both learn and perfect their skills in selecting winners,” said Stephen B. Panus, president of TJC Media Ventures. “We’re excited to welcome back the Breeders’ Cup World Championships as the presenting title sponsor of Stay Lucky in 2020 and look forward to another successful year of the app and free-to-play game, which culminates this season with the Breeders’ Cup Saturday from Keeneland Race Course on November 7.”
“We are pleased to return as the title sponsor of Stay Lucky and once again look forward to partnering with The Jockey Club and America’s Best Racing,” said Justin McDonald, senior vice president of marketing for Breeders’ Cup. “Stay Lucky has proven to be a great way to stimulate fan interest and engagement with major stakes races, including Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series races, throughout the year.”
In addition to returning as the presenting title sponsor of Stay Lucky, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships is offering a prize of a VIP trip to its 2020 event at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.
Returning prize sponsors in addition to the Breeders’ Cup are Old Smoke Clothing Company, STATS Race Lens, Racetrack Television Network, NTRA/National Horseplayer Tour and Championships, Christine A. Moore Millinery, and West Point Thoroughbreds.
To assist players in building their streaks, the Stay Lucky app features ABR content on Stay Lucky, including race previews and analysis, and users can receive notifications when new articles are posted.

A smoother, faster Stay Lucky for 2020 is available for download on the Apple iPhone App Store for iOS devices and for Android devices on Google Play. Returning players must update to the latest version of the app. Improvements include a new, updated ionic framework that will lead to significantly better performance of the app, as well as multiple changes implemented to improve the experience of Stay Lucky players.
