Saturday, March 30, marks one of the biggest days on the North American and international racing calendars, as Meydan Racecourse in the United Arab Emirates hosts the Dubai World Cup racecard and Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., winds down its spring championship meet with a stakes-packed card anchored by the $1 million, Grade 1 Xpressbet.com Florida Derby.

The Florida Derby offers 170 qualifying points to the top four finishers for the May 4 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, and another 170-point prep is also scheduled Saturday in Dubai: the $2.5 million United Arab Emirates Derby Sponsored by Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group. The Dubai World Cup for older horses is the centerpiece of Meydan’s Dubai World Cup Carnival card on Saturday, and the $12 million race has attracted some of the top North American dirt horses in training, including Gunnevera, Audible, and Yoshida.

NBC Sports will showcase the Florida Derby in a one-hour broadcast on NBCSN from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. NBC's live racing coverage will be followed by the second show in its four-part “Road to the Kentucky Derby” series leading up to the 145th run for the roses, airing from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Eastern on NBCSN. Saturday’s episode highlights the story of Chuck Zacney, owner of 2005 Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes winner Afleet Alex, and also features a behind-the-scenes visit with Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith.

TVG will also broadcast the racecard at Gulfstream Park, and it offers comprehensive coverage of the entire Dubai Racing Carnival card on March 30, beginning from the first race post time of 7:45 a.m. Eastern and including the United Arab Emirates Derby (post time 10:05 a.m. Eastern) and the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (post time 12:40 p.m. Eastern). NBC Sports will provide online coverage of three races from Meydan – the Dubai World Cup, the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic, and the Dubai Turf – on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.

A highlight of this week’s radio coverage is Saturday’s podcast of “The Winner’s Circle,” presented by The Stronach Group. Hosted by Bram Weinstein, the racing and betting variety show airs Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET on SB Nation Radio.

Scheduled to appear on the March 30 episode is jockey Jon Court, who rode Long Range Toddy to a win in the March 16 Rebel Stakes (first division).
