Labor Day weekend marks a big annual transition point on the Thoroughbred racing calendar, as two of the sport’s marquee venues – Saratoga and Del Mar – conclude their elite summer meets. The final three days at both tracks are filled with significant stakes races that often have important influence on the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and the year-end divisional awards, such as the Woodward Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets at Saratoga and key 2-year-old graded stakes at both tracks.

NYRA’s “Saratoga Live” show presented by Runhappy, Claiborne Farm, and America's Best Racing, winds down a successful stint as the go-to broadcast for Saratoga coverage, running on FS2 and other outlets through Saratoga's closing Labor Day card on Sept. 2.

All races from Saratoga and Del Mar will also be broadcast on TVG as part of their usual schedule, and TVG is the outlet for comprehensive coverage of the entire Saturday Aug. 31 card at Kentucky Downs, which opens its boutique five-day meet with a 10-race slate including four stakes races. And TVG's coverage expands this year to include Colonial Downs, which resumed racing earlier this month and will hold its marquee events, the New Kent County Virginia Derby and Fasig-Tipton Virginia Oaks, on a night card Aug. 31.

A highlight of the week’s radio coverage is “The Winner’s Circle” podcast presented The Stronach Group. The upcoming podcast airs Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. Eastern on SB Nation Radio (subscribe and access past episodes via Apple Podcasts here) and is hosted by Bram Weinstein, with racing analysis from retired Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens. Guest for the Aug. 31 podcast is Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez, who piloted Code of Honor to victory in the Aug. 24 Runhappy Travers Stakes.
