Upcoming Labor Day weekend marks the close of the elite Saratoga and Del Mar summer race meets and also features a plethora of stakes races that will be important contests on the road to the Breeders’ Cup.

Only one of the weekend’s stakes – the Spinaway Stakes on Sept. 1 at Saratoga for 2-year-old fillies – is a Challenge Series “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup, in this case the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. But other races such as the $750,000 Woodward Stakes, the Hopeful Stakes, and the Del Mar Futurity often carry Breeders’ Cup implications and are prestigious Grade 1 events in their own right.

The Spinaway Stakes and Woodward Stakes will be telecast by NBC Sports on Saturday, Sept. 1. The show, presented live from Saratoga, airs from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Eastern on NBCSN and is part of the Win and You’re In series presented by America’s Best Racing schedule.

Comprehensive Saratoga coverage will also be provided by "Saratoga Live," NYRA's flagship show presented by Claiborne Farm. “Saratoga Live” is available in 75 million households nationally through Fox Sports 2 and regionally through MSG+, Fox Sports Prime Ticket, Fox Sports San Diego, Fox Sports Ohio and the Altitude Sports Network.

“Saratoga Live” runs from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports 2 during Aug. 29-31 and on Labor Day, Sept. 3. Broadcast hours for the program on Fox Sports 2 are from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern on Sept. 1, Woodward Stakes Day, and from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Sept. 2. Stakes races aired by the “Saratoga Live” crew include the Hopeful Stakes and the Bernard Baruch Handicap on Saratoga’s closing day, Labor Day, Sept. 3.

Del Mar’s closing week will be broadcast in its entirety by TVG as part of its traditional wall-to-wall coverage. Post times for Del Mar’s concluding racecards are below. The Del Mar Debutante on Sept. 1 and the Del Mar Futurity on Labor Day will be featured in TVG’s package.

A highlight of the week’s radio and online streaming coverage is the upcoming “The Winner’s Circle” podcast, presented by America’s Best Racing in conjunction with SB Nation Radio. Hosted by Bram Weinstein, the Sept. 1 podcast features scheduled guest Drayden Van Dyke, who as of Aug. 27 leads all jockeys during the Del Mar meet in earnings and wins. "The Winner's Circle" airs at 10 a.m. Eastern on the SB Nation Radio network of stations, at www.sbnationlive.com, and on the SB Nation Radio app.
