Welcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI).
Stop back if you love tacos and want to get a trifecta play!
This week’s eatery:
1000 Mateo St.
Los Angeles, CA 90021
· Al Pastor seasoning reminded me more of chorizo than true al pastor
· Both the red and green salsas are tasty
· Easy to find and search on social media
· Terrific price given the portion of each taco ($1.50 each)
Recap of previous wager: Our key horse Platinum Warrior was never in contention and finished a dull tenth.
This week’s trifecta key:
#8 Nero (12-1 odds): In his most recent race, he broke good, pulled his rider to the lead and took control down the stretch to win by a comfortable margin while never asked for his best. He’s a lightly raced runner that has plenty of talent but can be a bit quirky to ride. I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet. He’s got plenty of natural speed to get himself into a good position early on and I think we are going to find out how good he really is in this spot.
