Welcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI), which was positive in 2017.
Stop back each week if you love tacos and want a trifecta play!
This week’s eatery:
Tacos El Guero
16355 Merrill Ave
- Quick Service
- Good prices
- Handmade tortillas on weekends
- Salsas were tasty
What to Improve:
- Not enough seating
- Al pastor was a bit overcooked
This week’s trifecta key:
#2 Free Drop Billy (6-1 odds): He showed signs of talent last fall when he was able to earn a Grade 1 victory when he stretched out to two turns for the first time in the Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland. He’s been given plenty of time off to recover from his dull effort in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. He’s got a good series of workouts in preparation for this event and I think his off-the-pace style fits this race well.
