The 143rdPreakness Stakes on May 19 is scheduled to bring back the top two finishers from the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve in Justify and Good Magic as well as several other talented Thoroughbreds aiming to deny Justify’s bid for a Triple Crown.

Television coverage is highlighted by over 4 ½ hours of live broadcast from Pimlico Race Course from NBC Sports on Saturday. From 2:30 to 5 p.m. Eastern, NBC Sports’ horse racing team will present features and live race coverage on NBCSN. Starting at 5 p.m. Eastern, coverage will shift to NBC, with the Preakness post time at 6:48 p.m. NBC will broadcast Game 5 of the National Hockey League Eastern Conference Final (if necessary) immediately following the Preakness.

NBC Sports will also build up to the Preakness and show live races from Pimlico including the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday, May 16, with a bloc of coverage on NBCSN from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. Over two days, NBC Sports will broadcast 10 live races from Pimlico.

NBC’s coverage will be anchored by hosts Mike Tirico and Bob Costas, and they are joined by analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey, reporters Donna Barton Brothers, Carolyn Manno, Britney Eurton, Laffit Pincay III, and Kenny Rice, handicapper Eddie Olczyk, and race caller Larry Collmus.

Features planned include a profile on Justify’s trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Mike Smith, and following Bailey and Moss as they tour the stables to speak with the connections of Preakness contenders.

NBC Sports will utilize the same aerial camera it debuted during the Kentucky Derby, positioned 15-18 feet above the track at Pimlico and with the capability to travel at 80 MPH.

Of note in the week’s NBC coverage is the premiere of the documentary “Dark Horses,” scheduled to air on NBCSN Saturday, May 19, at approximately 12 a.m. Eastern following the conclusion of the Friday evening National Hockey League playoff game. “Dark Horses” revisits the classic 1989 rivalry between Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, which spanned all three Triple Crown races and concluded in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. It features interviews with race caller Tom Durkin, jockeys Pat Valenzuela, Pat Day, and Chris McCarron, and Easy Goer’s trainer Shug McGaughey.

On the radio side, a highlight of the week's coverage is “The Winner’s Circle” podcast, presented by SB Nation and America’s Best Racing. The upcoming podcast airs on Preakness Day, May19, at 10 a.m. Eastern on SB Nation Radio and on the SB Nation Radio app and is hosted by Bram Weinstein. Scheduled as featured guest on May 19 is Bob Baffert, trainer of Justify, who will be gunning for his seventh Preakness Stakes victory.

In addition to television and radio coverage, XBTV will be on-site from Pimlico starting on May 15 for comprehensive online video coverage of Preakness week, including the draw on May 16.

Following is a list of television, radio, and online video coverage scheduled for the week leading up to the Preakness Stakes. And, if you’re in Baltimore on May 16, don’t miss the 5th annual America’s Best Racing Pre-Preakness Party at the Mt. Washington Tavern beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern. The event, which features food, drink, door prizes, and a silent auction, is sponsored by Sagamore Racing and benefits the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance!
