Welcome to Tacos and Trifectas! Each week, America’s Best Racing’s Southern California correspondent Jose Contreras - @LosPonies to those who follow him on Twitter - will provide a taco review along with a selection that he will key in trifecta bets in hopes of winning some cash to buy more tacos! Contreras will map out a trifecta betting strategy for how to key his main pick and keep track of his return on investment (ROI).

#7 Ismelucky (6-1 odds): I liked the progression she showed in each of her first three starts which led to two wins including a stakes victory over this track. I thought she found herself too close to the pace early on last time. She ended up holding on to what I thought was a game fourth-place finish. The horse she dueled with ended up fading to last and the eventual winner made a last-to-first move. I think she will be more effective with an off-the-pace trip.
Strategy on $80 Budget:
