How and when I was introduced to Thoroughbred racing: In the late 60s the co-manager of Herb’s [Herb Alpert] live personal appearances invited me to the racetrack for the very first time. And, armed with the [Daily] Racing Form, I worked out a horse to bet and watched the horse finish first, only to be disqualified. Not a great outcome, but we had a great day and a lot of fun.
Favorite Zenyatta moment: Winning her first race on Thanksgiving that year with the whole family in attendance for a photo.
