World of Trouble

World of Trouble won his career debut by 14 lengths before a runner-up finish in the Florida Stallion Affirmed Stakes in September at Gulfstream Park in his final start of 2017. He returned on Jan. 20 in the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and posted a runaway 13 3/4-length romp that set him up for his graded stakes debut in the Grade 2 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby. World of Trouble set the pace in the Tampa Bay Derby and held on gamely in the stretch before relenting late and finishing third, beaten by 1 1/4 lengths by Quip.

After running fourth in the Grade 3 Woody Stephens Stakes, World of Trouble was switched to the grass. He won the Quick Call Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths in his turf debut in August at Saratoga and followed with a runaway 5 3/4-length score in the Allied Forces Stakes at Belmont Park in September. Entered in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs, World of Trouble seized command entering the stretch but came up just short when outfinished by defending winner Stormy Liberal.

World of Trouble moved back to dirt for his final race in 2018, and coasted to a 13 ¾-length win on a sloppy track in a listed stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. He returned for his 5-year-old campaign in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint on Jan. 26, but the race was moved to Gulfstream’s main track due to heavy rains. Nevertheless, he summoned another powerhouse performance on dirt, winning as the 1-5 favorite by 2 ¾ lengths, and then his ownership group and Jason Servis stepped World of Trouble up to try a Grade 1 on dirt in the April 6 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct. In that seven-furlong race, World of Trouble rallied three-wide out of the turn under Manny Franco and outfinished Skyler’s Scramjet to post his first top-level win.

Back on the turf on Kentucky Oaks day, World of Trouble dominated the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint, setting the pace from the start of the 5 1/2 furlong race and galloping off to win easily at Churchill Downs. He followed with a front-running win on the turf in the Grade 1 Jaipur Invitational Stakes on the Belmont Stakes undercard. The victory made him a Grade 1 winner on  both turf and dirt.
