Wet Your Whistle won his career debut in July 2018 but he did not return to the winner’s circle until seven starts and 17 months later when he shipped north to Woodbine and won an allowance race by 8 ¼ lengths on the synthetic main track. He followed with a turf victory at Laurel Park in April 2019 in his 4-year-old bow and then earned his first-career stakes win in the Get Serious Stakes at Monmouth Park, stalking the pace and then surging clear to prevail by 3 ¼ lengths.

Making his graded stakes debut in the Grade 1 Highlander Stakes back at Woodbine, Wet Your Whistle closed with a powerful rally to reel in Extravagant Kid for a decisive victory. He concluded 2019 with fourth- and seventh-place finishes in graded stakes at Saratoga and Kentucky Downs, and returned in 2020 to win listed stakes on Presque Isle Downs' synthetic track in August.
Wet Your Whistle broke slow and finished sixth in a Laurel Park stakes in September, but then regained his best form in the Grade 3 Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational, taking his second graded stakes and fourth stakes overall by 3 ¼ lengths. One race later, he delivered arguably the best race of his career when he closed from far back to finish second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint Nov. 7 at Keeneland.
