Valid made his second career start in 2012 a winning one, stretching out to a mile and powering to a dominant 3 3/4-length victory. Valid's dam (mother) is stakes winner Grand Prayer and he is a half brother (different father, same mother) to Grade 1 winner Malibu Prayer.
He earned his first career stakes win in the Grade 2 Monmouth Cup Stakes in July 2014.

Valid put together his best season to date in 2015 with four stakes wins and three other top-three finishes in graded stakes. He won the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper Stakes at Guilfstream Park in February 2015 and the Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin Stakes in August 2015 at Monmouth Park. Valid also won the Groomstick Stakes and Harlan's Holiday Stakes at Gulfstream Park in the second half of 2015, two wins that were sandwiched around a fifth-place finish in the Las Vegas Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
Valid finished second in both the Grade 3 Hal's Hope Stakes and Grade 1 Donn Handicap to start 2016 and then finished third in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Handicap.
