A multiple group three stakes winner in France, Vagabond Shoes earned his first victory in the U.S. when he won the 2013 Del Mar Handicap by a half-length in August at Del Mar. The Grade 2 win also earned Vagabond Shoes a starting spot in the Breeders' Cup Turf via the "Win and You're In" Challenge Series. A month later at Santa Anita's "Super Saturday", Vagabond Shoes finished second to Indy Point in the John Henry Turf Championship.
