Twilight Eclipse debuted as a 3-year-old in June 2012 and immediately showed ability, winning his first graded stakes later that year, the W.L. McKnight Handicap, a race that he also won in 2013. Also in 2013 Twilight Eclipse won the Grade 2 Pan American Stakes and finished second in a pair of Grade 1 turf events, the Sword Dancer Invitational and the Man o' War Stakes.
Twilight Eclipse debuted as a 3-year-old in June 2012 and immediately showed ability, winning his first graded stakes later that year, the W.L. McKnight Handicap, a race that he also won in 2013. Also in 2013 Twilight Eclipse won the Grade 2 Pan American Stakes and finished second in a pair of Grade 1 turf events, the Sword Dancer Invitational and the Man o' War Stakes.
In 2014 Twilight Eclipse won the Mac Diarmida Stakes and finished second or third in four Grade 1 races, including a third-place effort in the Breeders' Cup Turf. The hard-knocking gelding finally broke through with a Grade 1 win in 2015 when he dug in to win the Grade 1 Man o' War Stakes in May. He also added three more Grade 1 placings to his record that year.
In 2016, Twilight Eclipse won an allowance optional claiming race at Belmont Park and finished third in four stakes races on turf, including two Grade 1 events.
Twilight Eclipse is a son of Purim out of the Twilight Agenda mare My Twilight Dancer. He was a bargain purchase as a yearling when he sold at Keeneland for just $1,000 and was later sold privately to his current owners.
