Teddy's Promise is the first horse Ted and Judy Nichols ever bred and she won the 2011 La Brea Stakes (G1) to give the couple a winner at racing's highest level. The Salt Lake filly subsequently earned her second career stakes win when she prevailed in the Time To Leave Stakes in May 2012.

After a dry spell, Teddy's Promise returned to the winner's circle in late December 2012 and won her first Grade 1 in over a year when she beat Sugarinthemorning in the Santa Monica Stakes (G2). A consistent performer on the California circuit, Teddy's Promise has hit the board in all four of her races since the Santa Monica, including her second consecutive win in the Time to Leave Stakes in May 2013.
