Spiced Perfection

Spiced Perfection, a California-bred Smiling Tiger filly, fashioned a successful racing career in her home state during 2017-18, winning five of her first 13 starts, including three stakes for state-breds, and finishing in the money 11 times.

On Dec. 26, 2018, the bay broke through with an impressive 1 ¼-length score in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes on the opening day card of Santa Anita Park’s 2019 winter-spring meet.

In her 4-year-old debut, Spiced Perfection ran second by a head to Late Night Pow Wow in the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie Stakes. She then was entered in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland on April 6 and battled with Amy's Challenge in the stretch, eventually wearing down that rive to prevail in a thrilling stretch duel. Spiced Perfection finished fourth in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff on Kentucky Derby weekend and was given the summer off, resurfacing at Keeneland in the fall to win the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes and a place in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.

Spiced Perfection was second in the stretch in the Filly and Mare Sprint but faded a bit late and finished fourth. She rebounded nicely in her next race when leading from start to finish for a clear victory in the Grade 3 Go for Wand Handicap Dec. 7 at Aqueduct.

Spiced Perfection is a full-sister (same dam, same sire) to stakes winner Cruel Intention.
