Silver Max is trained by Dale Romans for owners Mark Bacon and Dana Wells. Out of the Kissin Kris mare Kissin Rene, Silver Max sold for $20,000 as a yearling at Fasig-Tipton's2010 Kentucky July sale.

Silver Max proved he was an elite racehorse at three, when he won seven of 10 starts and earned more than $820,000. But he really came into his own as a 4-year-old in 2013 when he won the Oceanport Stakes at Monmouth Park and the Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga before halting Horse of the Year Wise Dan's nine-race winning streak in the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes.
