Shaman Ghost strung together a four-race win streak as a 3-year-old, capped by consecutive wins in the Grade 3 Marine Stakes and the Queen's Plate, the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown.
Shaman Ghost strung together a four-race win streak as a 3-year-old, capped by consecutive wins in the Grade 3 Marine Stakes and the Queen's Plate, the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown.
He won the Grade 2 Brooklyn Invitational Stakes in his second start as a 4-year-old after recovering from ankle surgery. Following a disappointing finish in the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap, Shaman Ghost bounced back in a big way with a win over Frosted in the Garde 1 Woodward Stakes in September at Saratoga Race Course. He finished third in the Grade 1 Clark Handicap in his final race of 2016.
In his 2017 debut, Shaman Ghost finished second to champion Arrogate in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup, the inaugural edition of a race created by his owner Frank Stronach. In his next start, Shaman Ghost validated that effort against the world’s highest-ranked dirt racehorse by winning the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap on March 11, outfinishing Midnight Storm in the final strides. Shaman Ghost reappeared on Preakness weekend at Stronach-owned Pimlico Race Course to win the Pimlico Special.
