Separationofpowers, a Klaravich Stables-owned Candy Ride filly trained by Chad Brown, won her career debut at Saratoga during summer 2017 by an impressive 11 ¾ lengths and then finished third as the 3-5 favorite in the Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes.

Stretched out to a mile in her next start, she won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park by 3 ½ lengths on Oct. 8 to earn an automatic berth in the 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She closed her 2-year-old season with a fourth-place finish in the Juvenile Fillies.

Separationofpowers made her 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes on July 8 at Belmont Park and endured a brutal trip. She stumbled at the start, raced wide and was steadied in the race while running fourth. Things went much more smoothly in the Grade 1 Longines Test Stakes on Aug. 4 in her second start of 2018. Separationofpowers rallied to confront Mia Magic at the top of the stretch and gradually wore down her game rival for a hard-fought victory. She stretched out to a mile and a sixteenth for her final start of 2018, where she finished fourth in the Cotillion Stakes.

After nearly eight months off, Separationofpowers returned for her 4-year-old bow in the Grade 3 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park in May, finishing third. She was back at the same track for the Grade 3 Bed o' Roses Invitational a month later and turned in a dominant performance, setting the pace throughout and winning by open lengths.
