Secret Message won her second start in January 2018 at Turfway Park, where she subsequently finished fifth in a stakes race. After an allowance win at Turfway, Secret Message went back to stakes competition and was tested on the grass. She ran second in the Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico on the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes undercard. Secret Message was unplaced in the Grade 3 Regret Stakes at Churchill Downs before earning a breakthrough graded stakes win in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes on the Arlington Million Stakes undercard.
