Sailor’s Valentine, a 3-year-old Mizzen Mast filly owned by Semaphore Racing and Homewrecker Racing and trained by Eddie Kenneally, emerged as a contender for the 2017 Kentucky Oaks after posting a 22.20-1 upset win in the Central Bank Ashland Stakes at Keeneland Race Course.
Sailor’s Valentine, a 3-year-old Mizzen Mast filly owned by Semaphore Racing and Homewrecker Racing and trained by Eddie Kenneally, emerged as a contender for the 2017 Kentucky Oaks after posting a 22.20-1 upset win in the Central Bank Ashland Stakes at Keeneland Race Course.
The filly improved to 2-for-2 at Keeneland, after winning her career debut at the Lexington, Ky., track in October 2016. Between that start and the Ashland, she raced four times without a win, but entered the Ashland off of a close runner-up finish in a turf allowance optional claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs.
Sailor’s Valentine is out of the winning Tale of the Cat mare Sortilege and is from the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Coup de Fusil.
