Joe Peacock’s Runaway Ghost finished second by a head in his career debut during May 2017 and then won his next two starts, including the Golden Nugget Stakes at Golden Gate Fields. He concluded his 2-year-old campaign with a fifth-place finish in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Cash Call Futurity and was then sent to Sunland Park and transferred to trainer Todd Fincher.
At Sunland, the Ghostzapper colt won the Riley Allison Futirity to kick off his 3-year-old campaign and then finished second to Reride in the Mine That Bird Derby.
