Rowdy Yates won his career debut by 4 ¾ lengths May 31, 2019, at Churchill Downs and followed with a second-place finish in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes. He followed with a breakthrough stakes win in the Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes, which he led from start to finish in a 2 ¼-length win Aug. 18.
Rowdy Yates won his career debut by 4 ¾ lengths May 31, 2019, at Churchill Downs and followed with a second-place finish in the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes. He followed with a breakthrough stakes win in the Ellis Park Juvenile Stakes, which he led from start to finish in a 2 ¼-length win Aug. 18.
After finishing fifth in the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes at Churchill, the Morning Line colt was sent to Steve Asmussen’s barn at Remington Park and won a pair of stakes for Oklahoma-breds by open lengths in October and November, respectively. He faded badly late in his return to open company when seventh in the Remington Springboard Mile Stakes.
Making his 3-year-old bow in the Riley Allison Derby at Sunland Park in January 2020, Rowdy Yates rallied from off the pace for a 3 ½-length victory. He shipped across the globe next for the Samba Saudi Derby Cup and finished fourth Feb. 29.
Rowdy Yates returned from a layoff of almost four months in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby and again finished fourth, and then finished fourth again in the Runhappy Ellis Park Derby.
