Praetero broke his maiden at Gulfstream Park in March of 2011. After winning an allowance race at Belmont Park, he finished out the 2011 season placing in two different allowance starts at Aqueduct and Gulfstream.
2012 started out successful at Gulfstream with a third place finish and a win just a month later, both in allowance races. Praetereo had a dissapointing sixth place finish in both the Grade 3 Skip Away Stakes and Grade 2 Brooklyn Handicap.
