After winning his career debut in July 2016, Patternrecognition finished second in four consecutive races. He picked up his second victory in his sixth start, drawing away to win an allowance race by 6 ¼ lengths in November 20-17 at Aqueduct.
After winning his career debut in July 2016, Patternrecognition finished second in four consecutive races. He picked up his second victory in his sixth start, drawing away to win an allowance race by 6 ¼ lengths in November 20-17 at Aqueduct.
Following an unplaced finish in his season debut in May 2018, Patternrecognition ran second in a sprint at Belmont Park before winning a seven-furlong sprint at Saratoga. He then tested stakes competition for the first time in the one-mile, Grade 2 Kelso Handicap and led from start to finish for a breakthrough stakes triumph. Patternrecognition proved the graded stakes win was no fluke in his next start when he set the pace and held on gamely in the stretch for a three-quarter-length victory in the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap Presented by NYRA Bets on Dec. 1 at Aqueduct.
