Old Persian won the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes as a 3-year-old during the Royal Ascot meet, a victory that earned him a start in the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. The Dubawi colt ran sixth in the Irish classic, 4 ½ length behind winner Latrobe. Old Persian rebounded nicely in his next start to win the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes in August at York. He closed out his 3-year-old campaign with a fifth-place finish in the William Hill St. Leger Stakes in September.

Old Persian got off to a nice start as a 4-year-old, winning a group stakes in Meydan. He followed with a career-defining victory in the Group 1, $6 million Dubai Sheema Classic on the 2019 Dubai World Cup card. He disappointed in his first start back in Europe but showed flashes of his top form when third by a length in a Group 1 race in Germany Aug. 11.
Old Persian shipped to North America for the first time for the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine Sept. 14 and proved the class of the field, pulling away from five overmatched opponents en route to a 2 1/2-length victory.
Old Persian hails from the family of two-time Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and champion Miesque.
