Nootka Sound broke her maiden at first asking in April 2017 and trainer Wesley Ward shipped her to England to compete in the Royal Ascot meet. She disappointed with a 17th-place finish in the Windsor Castle Stakes and was given several months off, not racing again until her 3-year-old season.
She kicked off 2018 with a win in an allowance optional claiming race before finishing second in the Bridgetown Stakes against males. Nootka Sound got back to her winning ways in the Soaring Softly Stakes, a race that was moved from the turf to a sloppy main Belmont Park track.
