Newspaperofrecord, an Irish-bred 2-year-old filly owned by Klaravich Stables and trained by Chad Brown, won her career debut at Saratoga on Aug. 19, 2018, and then handled a class jump with aplomb by taking the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park by an overpowering 6 ½ lengths on Sept. 30.

She next raced in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, and her turn of foot was just as devastating as she galloped off to win by 6 3/4 lengths geared down.

Newspaperofrecord made her 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 Edgewood Stakes Presented by Forcht Bank. The bay filly took the lead shortly after the start and was a bit headstorng early, but she maintained a clear lead into deep stretch. Concrete Rose rallied powerfully to reel in Newspaperofrecord late and handed her the first defeat of her career. In her second start of 2019 in the Grade 3 Wonder Again Stakes on June 6 at Belmont Park, Newspaperofrecord again led into deep stretch but was passed late by stablemate Cambier Parc in a second-straight runner-up finish.

After a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes on June 6, Newspaperofrecord was given a break in training. She returned 11 months later in the Grade 3 Intercontinental Stakes at seven-eighths of a mile and quickly seized command, surging clear in the stretch and comfortably holding off runner-up Regal Glory by four lengths in a dominant return June 6 at Belmont Park. She returned three weeks later and delivered another powerful performance in a runaway victory in the Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes June 27 at Belmont.

Klaravich Stables purchased Newspaperofrecord, a daughter of Lope de Vega, at the Tattersalls October yearling sale in 2017 for about $278,000.
