Mr. Monomoy was unplaced in his October 2019 debut at Keeneland Race Course but bounced back four weeks later to post an eye-catching, front-running win at Churchill Downs, where he powered clear to win by 5 ½ lengths.
The bay colt by Palace Malice followed with hard-fought runner-up finish by a head Dec. 21 on a sloppy track at Fair Grounds.

Mr. Monomoy made his stakes debut Jan. 18 at the New Orleans track in the Grade 3 Lecomte Stakes and finished willingly in the stretch for third, edged out late for second by Silver State. He more than made amends in the first division of the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes Presented by Lamarque Ford Feb. 15 at Fair Grounds, where he led from start to finish in a dominant 2 1/2-length victory to earn 50 points of the Road to the Kentucky Derby and solidy his spot in the first jewel of the Triple Crown May 2 at Churchill Downs.
Out of the winning Henny Hughes mare Drumette, Mr. Monomoy is a half-brother (same dam [mother], different sire [father]) to 2018 champion 3-year-old filly Monomoy Girl.
