Mr. Money

Mr. Money finished second in his debut and third in his second race before a breakthrough victory in his third start on Sept. 28, 2018, at Churchill Downs.

Tested next against elite competition in the Grade 1 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Mr. Money proved capable with a fourth-place finish.

In his first two races of 2019, Mr. Money was given a shot on the Road to the Kentucky Derby trail but finished unplaced in both the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes Presented by Lamarque Ford and the Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby.

Mr. Money regained his winning form when cutting back to a one-turn mile on the Kentucky Derby undercard. He pulled away to a convincing victory in the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile Stakes Presented by LG and E and KU.

After his breakthrough win, Mr. Money continued to train well at Churchill Downs, and returned in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes on the Stephen Foster Stakes evening card June 15 at Churchill. He settled behind pacesetter Knicks Go through the backstretch and far turn and drew clear of the field in early stretch to post another impressive win, scoring by 6 ½ lengths. Mr. Money continued his hot streak with a runaway victory July 13 in the Grade 3 Indiana Derby. Mr. Money extended his winning streak to four with another runaway victory, surging well clear in the stretch to win the Grade 3 West Virginia Derby by six lengths Aug. 3. He next ran second by a neck to Math Wizard in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby Sept. 21 at Parx Racing. 

Following the Pennsylvania Derby, Mr. Money went off form for a stretch of races that spanned five consecutive unplaced finishes. His best effort during the losing stretch was a fourth-place finish at Churchill Downs in the Blame Stakes May 23, 2020.

The Goldencents colt got back on track at his favorite venue Sept. 26 when he closed gamely from the inside at Churchill Downs to win the Grade 3 Ack Ack Stakes by 1 1/4 lengths at 6.40-1 odds under Gabriel Saez.

Mr. Money is from the family of 2009 Dubai World Cup winner Well Armed.
