Monongahela

Monongahela, a Pennsylvania-bred son of K One King, broke his maiden in his sixth career start at Penn National in April 2017 after running second in four of his first five appearances. He then matured into a competitive performer on the Midlantic circuit over the next two years, winning four more starts and running second seven more times. He began testing stakes company starting in early 2018 but failed to score a career-defining win over the next year and a half.

During early 2019, Monongahela upped his came with a close second in a Laurel Park listed stakes and then another runner-up finish in the Grade 3 Excelsior Stakes at Aqueduct. After running fourth in the Flat Out Stakes at Belmont Park in May, the now 5-year-old horse broke through in the Grade 3 Philip H. Iselin Stakes at Monmouth Park on June 22, stalking the pace and taking over in early stretch to win with Jose Lezcano aboard.
