In only her third career start, Mom's On Strike finished fifth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes in 2016 at Pimlico. After a sixth-place finish in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes, she was given a softer test and switched to the turf, on which she ran second in the Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park. She made her next six starts in alloance races before winning the Marie G. Krantz Memorial Stakes and Albert M. Stall Memorial Stakes in back-to-back starts to open her 5-year-old season.

After a fourth-place finish in the New Orleans Ladies Overnight Stakes in March at Fair Grounds halted a four-race winless stretch, Mom's On Strike earned her first graded stakes win when she pulled away late to win the Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes at Keeneland. She subsequently ran second in the Waya Stakes at Saratoga and the Ramsey Farm Stakes at Kentucky Downs before closing her 5-year-old campaign with an eighth-place finish in the Maker's Mark Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
After a seven-month layoff, Mom's On Strike returned in the Grade 3 Old Forester Mint Julep Stakes on June 8 at Churchill Downs and halted the four-race winless stretch with a victory by a neck.
