Mohaymen

Mohaymen opened his career with three straight victories, winning his career debut in September 2015 at Belmont Park before sweeping the Grade 2 Nashua and Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct.

Mohaymen improved to four wins in four starts with a visually stunning victory in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park, where he coasted to an effortless 3 1/2-length romp.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin then targeted the Xpressbet.com Fountain of Youth Stakes for Mohaymen, who overwhelmed highly regarded Zulu on the final turn and powered away to another decisive victory.

Mohaymen means "dominant" in Arabic and through his first five races was dominant and then some.

In the Florida Derby, Mohaymen tasted defeat for the first time in his career when he pulled alongside undefeated Nyquist but could not match strides with the reigning champion, who pulled away to a convincing victory. Mohaymen faded to fourth. In the next race, Mohaymen again finished fourth to Nyquist in the Kentucky Derby.

A $2.2-million purchase by Shadwell Stable at the 2014 Keeneland September yearling sale, Mohaymen is out of multiple graded stakes winner Justwhistledixie, by Dixie Union. Justwhistledixie also is the dam (mother) of 2013 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner New Year's Day.
