After a runner-up finish for trainer Tony Dutrow in his career debut, Mo Town drew away to win his second start by seven lengths on Sept. 24, 2016, at Belmont Park..

Mo Town followed with a dominant victory in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct to stamp himself a contender for the 2017 Triple Crown trail.

In his 2017 debut, Mo Town disappointed with a fifth-place finish in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes as the 1-2 favorite. His aspirations for the Triple Crown series ended with a seventh-place finish in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial Stakes.

After a layoff of about four months, Mo Town returned in the summer at Saratoga Race Course and finished fourth in an allowance race before running third in an allowance race at Belmont Park in September. Dutrow then opted to test Mo Town on the grass and his won his turf debut by 6 1/2 lengths in October at Belmont Park with a career-best 113 Equibase Speed Figure. He remained on the grass and followed with a dominant victory in the Grade 2 Hollywood Derby.

A $200,000 purchase at the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale, Mo Town is out of the winning Bernardini mare Grazie Millie. Grade 1-placed graded stakes winner Molto Vita is the grandam (maternal grandmother) of Mo Town.
