A $700,000 purchase as a 2-year-old at auction, Mississippi picked up a victory in his second start for trainer Mark Casse, earning an eye-catching 98 Equibase Speed Figure when winning a one-mile race at Churchill Downs in November 2017. He subsequently ran second to a pair of highly regarded 3-year-olds – Noble Indy in January and Storm Runner in February – earning a career-best 111 Equibase Speed Figure for the latter effort.
He stepped up to stakes competition for the first time in the Florida Derby and finished third.
